An immersive film for a three-walled CAVE system, built in Unreal Engine
A film built for immersion, wrapped around the audience across three walls of a CAVE system at the University of Bristol. Fractured Eden depicts the impact of human activity on a rainforest environment.
Built collaboratively, Fractured Eden combines animated environment work with sound design into a single continuous piece, staged so that an audience stands inside the rainforest itself rather than observing it from the outside. My own role covered asset creation, animation, and video editing. Assets were built in Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine, animated in Unreal, and edited together in DaVinci Resolve.
The CAVE runs an individual projector per wall, so the finished piece was recorded from three separate camera angles, shown here side by side to give a sense of how the environment wraps around the space.
